Sunday 27 September
Erev Yom Kippur – Yizkor & Kol Nidre
Yizkor: Commencing at 3:30pm
The ARK Centre Yizkor service is one of the most meaningful and moving times of the year. In our tradition, each person speaks the name of the loved ones they are remembering. As we go around and hear from each person who wishes, those assembled are able to support each other and collectively we remember those we have lost. This year we will conduct a similar style of service via Zoom. Anyone who wishes to participate is asked to email the office via firstname.lastname@example.org no later than Tuesday 22 September. You will then receive an email with detailed instructions on how the service will proceed. As time will be of the essence and we want to ensure each person has the opportunity to share the names of departed loved ones, the email will identify a time for each person to speak. We ask everyone to be online at the designated time in order to ensure the service can run as smoothly as possible.
Kol Nidre: Follows Yizkor
One of the moments that reaches our souls is when we hear the haunting chant of the Kol Nidre prayer on Erev Yom Kippur. Tune in before the fast starts this year to hear a beautiful rendition of Kol Nidre from Rabbi Gabi.
Hear from Rabbi Gabi:
And it wouldn’t be Kol Nidre night if we didn’t hear from the Rabbi. Each year Rabbi Gabi’s drosha instils a sense of austerity and provides lots to think about over the fast and this year will be no different in that regard.
